Karen Kluglein

b. 1958, Hempstead, NY

Karen Kluglein lives on the East End of New York's Long Island. Karen was trained at The School of Visual Arts and recently received numerous awards from various important art organizations for her botanical masterpieces. Her love of painting nature inspired her to pursue her talent as a botanical artist. Karen paints with watercolor on calfskin vellum to meticulously render natural specimens in their various stages of growth. With her keen eye, innate and practiced sensitivity to the subject, she captures the unique nature of each botanical specimen. She competes with foraging deer for her subjects.
